Find official program leads

This is a limited set of reviewed official records. Specific state offers currently cover Massachusetts and Maine; other selections return nationwide lookup resources with availability marked unknown. A state match does not confirm your utility territory or eligibility.

Source review: October 5, 2026. We do not total incentives or assume they can be combined.

Choose your state and water-heater technology to see official program leads. The finder uses a small editorial dataset reviewed on October 5, 2026. It contains specific Massachusetts and Maine heat-pump water-heater offers, nationwide lookup resources, and a closed federal-credit record. It does not cover every utility, municipality, state, or Tribal program.

Read the status correctly

“Published offer confirmed at review” means the administrator described an offer when the source was checked. It does not mean funds remain, your address is in the service territory, or your equipment qualifies. “Availability unknown” means the dataset cannot establish current local availability. “Closed for a new project” reflects a published end date or a confirmed closed record.

A missing state-specific match is a coverage gap, not evidence that your state has no incentives. Records older than 90 days lose their confirmed-open display status until reviewed again. The finder also checks published start and end dates against the current date. A record with no published closing date remains subject to administrator confirmation.

Check your utility and administrator

Use the official ENERGY STAR rebate finder with your ZIP code, then verify the provider named on your electricity or gas bill. State boundaries do not determine utility eligibility. Municipal utility customers may follow different programs from customers of investor-owned utilities.

The DOE Home Energy Rebates resource directs households to their state or territory energy office for program status and eligibility. Tribal administrators can have separate offerings. The national framework does not establish an available award for a particular water-heater purchase.

Verify before buying

Ask the administrator to confirm the exact model, efficiency requirement, existing equipment restrictions, qualifying customer, property type, contractor rules, and whether approval must happen before purchase. Save the official terms, approval number, invoice, model information, and installation date. An instant retail discount and a mail-in rebate can be alternative paths within one program.

The Mass Save official program and Efficiency Maine official program contain the application details for their listed offers. Confirm the full terms there even when a finder record matches your selection.

Keep tax credits and rebate stacking separate

The IRS says the federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit does not apply to expenditures or property placed in service after December 31, 2025. See the IRS Form 5695 instructions. The finder does not assign an automatic 25C credit to a new 2026 water heater.

It also does not total programs. Two offers may prohibit combining incentives or paying twice for the same expense. Once a program confirms your award, enter it into the cost calculator to explore an illustrative net budget. Read the rebates guide and tax credits guide for the broader decision process.
